Engineering students volunteer across the city for Day of Service 2018

On Saturday, September 29 engineering students came together to participate in a volunteer day specifically geared towards engineering students, dubbed as Engineering an Impact. During this event both undergraduate and graduate students from the Swanson School of Engineering had the opportunity to volunteer together for local nonprofits around Pittsburgh. These partners included Global Links, Habitat for Humanity, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, Tree Pittsburgh, Grounded, Y Creator Space, and Red Lantern Braddock. With eight partners and a total of 80 volunteers, this event was a huge success and will hopefully take place again next year.

This event was lead by the University of Pittsburgh’s chapter of Engineers Without Borders with the help of Engineering Graduate Student Organization, EBA, Robotics and Automation Society, IISE, Phi Sigma Rho, Theta Tau, and IEEE. Once volunteers arrived back to campus food was provided by FeelGood Pitt.
