Pitt's Engineering Student Council achieves several accomplishments at national conference

PITTSBURGH (May 7, 2014) … The Engineering Student Council at the University of Pittsburgh's Swanson School of Engineering attained several achievements at the National Association of Engineering Student Councils' (NAESC) 2014 National Conference at Oklahoma State University's Stillwater campus, April 4-6th, 2014.

Pitt ESC was named Best Overall Small Engineering Student Council; awarded Best Social Event for its annual Rocky Horror Picture Show fundraiser; and had two members elected to the North-Atlantic Regional Board: Pitt ESC President, Ian Abrahamsen as Regional Director, and Nathan Porceng as Regional Coordinator of Communications.

"To receive so much recognition at the national conference this year was both extremely encouraging and humbling," noted Mr. Abrahamsen. Pitt ESC has seen tremendous growth over the past couple of years and to be acknowledged for these efforts nationally was exceptional news, for which we are all incredibly grateful. These awards absolutely come from a group effort, and we will be sure to .use them as inspiration to keep Pitt ESC improving as the best engineering student council."

The National Association of Engineering Student Councils (NAESC) is an organization comprised of more than 50 universities nationwide. NAESC meets annually and gives engineering student councils the opportunity to discuss issues related to their universities and councils while helping to promote engineering throughout the country. More than 240 students from approximately 40 schools attend the conference each year. The delegates represent the top engineering student leaders in the nation.
