Swanson School Names 2010 Outstanding Cooperative Education Employer

The Swanson School of Engineering has named Vocollect, Inc. as its Outstanding Cooperative Education Employer for 2010. Recipients of this honor display a serious and sustained commitment to the school′s cooperative education program. Vocollect, Inc. began working with the University of Pittsburgh in May of 1996. They have hired more than forty co-op students, and have employed many full-time.

Maureen Barcic, Director of Co-op Education says, "They′ve been so committed to our program and even when the economy was down they maintained their promise to our students. They really showed a commitment to our school." In addition, Vocollect, Inc. showed interest in the Swanson School′s Excel program, which represents underrepresented students.

Vocollect, Inc. began in 1987. According to the company′s official website, the three founders of Vocollect, Inc. "set out to combine sophisticated voice recognition with light weight mobile computing devices." Since that time, Vocollect has become the world leader in voice-centric solutions for mobile workers.
