Swanson School Advising Professional to Lead National Conference

Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and Transfer Student Services Chris Kirchhof was announced as the co-chair for NACADA’s 2024 Annual Conference

Chris Kirchhof, director of undergraduate recruitment and transfer students services at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering, is embarking on his most exciting role yet.

Kirchhof will be serving as the co-chair for NACADA’s 2024 Annual Conference in Pittsburgh. This will be the global advising association’s first ever conference in the Steel City.

“I am looking forward to showcasing the work we do at the Swanson School and in Western Pennsylvania that supports student success,” Kirchhof said. “I think it’s very important to welcome other institutions, learn from each other, and collaborate and advance the advising profession.”

As co-chair, Kirchhof is responsible for the conference’s logistics, theme and program planning. He will also oversee a committee to plan the conference’s pre-conference, poster, and concurrent sessions.

“It’s critical to have professional staff like Chris engage in leadership roles at the national level,” said Mary Besterfield-Sacre, senior associate dean for academic affairs and Nickolas A. DeCecco Professor of industrial engineering. “Chris has helped to put the Swanson School’s advising excellence on the national stage through his work with NACADA.”

Kirchof has been a NACADA member since 2010 and has served in various leadership positions throughout his tenure.
