My name is Nicole Bohatch and I am the new CMI Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Medical Innovation! I have recently received my Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Duquesne University and will begin pursuing my Master’s in Bioengineering--Medical Product Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh this Fall. My passion for Biomedical Engineering began during my senior year of high school after undergoing a major surgery. This is when I knew I wanted to be involved in creating the technology that makes complicated procedures possible!

The passion that I have for Biomedical Engineering has only grown stronger through my educational experiences, both in the classroom and through organizations such as Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and Society of Women Engineers (SWE). During my senior design capstone course, I became fascinated by the design process of medical devices. After completing my education, I am eager to create practical solutions to unmet clinical needs that are both affordable and accessible to all. I look forward to being involved with the Center for Medical Innovation as they work toward their goal of providing seed funding to translate clinical engineering projects into products for the healthcare marketplace.
