Savio L-Y. Woo Reappointed to National Health Research Institute Scientific Council

Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of Bioengineering Savio L-Y. Woo has been reappointed for three years as a standing member of the National Health Research Institute (NHRI) Scientific Council in Taiwan, ROC.

Established in 1995, the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) is a non-profit foundation dedicated to the enhancement of medical research and the improvement of healthcare in Taiwan. This election reflects Woo’s pioneering research in the field of bioengineering and more than 50 years of translational research in the healing and repair of tissues. 

His nearly five decades of experience with the U.S. National Institutes of Health have prepared Woo for this appointment. He served on the NHRI Medical Engineering and Biotechnology Study Section from 1992-1998, was chairman of the Scientific Review Committee IV - Medical Engineering from 1998-2020, and has served on the Scientific Council since 2020.
